" accompanying baptize pump base " stirling ltd engine

stirling ltd engine more info stirling.devink.net LTD engine nr 8 'Twin Water Pump-Station' This has become a very special LTD engine with a large cooling plate and a heat plate with a diameter of 200 mm. For a change I made this LTD with two water pumps and a V-tube water column. The configuration of the LTD can work in four different ways. 1. With one water pump 2. With one water pump with the V-tube water column 3. With two water pumps with the V-tube water column 4. With only the V-tube water column Both water pumps have the same capacity. The V-tube water column is easy to adjust by adding more or less water in the tube. The displacer of this engine has a very short stroke of about 4 mm. I made this after reading an article by Rudy Mémin. He writes that a film of about 3 mm air around the displacer is sufficient to let the LTD Ringbom run. As the stroke is so small I preferred to use two small repellent magnets instead of the balance spring. The difference in temperature between the two plates, necessary to run the engine, starts at about 50º C. The engine runs most efficiently when the difference in temperature is approximately 70º C. This is getting close to the limits of the material of the displacer and the displacer cylinder. Heating is by a halogen lamp of 50 W or a tea-warmer with a heat cap. For me this has been the most difficult Stirling engine I have ever made, but it runs! (See video clip) The engine has been made as a demonstration model with the shape ...
